Excel Count Functions

Excel COUNT function counts the cells which has numeric values. For instance if we want count total cells that has only and only numeric values within a range, then Excel COUNT function will return you the desired result. COUNT function will ignore blanks cells and cells containing text value and errors. Use Excel count functions to count cells with numbers only, count cells with any type of data or count blank cells. Shows COUNT function, COUNTA function, COUNTBLANK function.

Use the COUNT function to get the number of entries in a number field that is in a range or array of numbers. For example, you can enter the following formula to count the numbers in the range A1:A20: =COUNT(A1:A20). In this example, if five of the cells in the range contain numbers, the result is 5.

COUNTIF is a function to count cells that meet a single criteria. COUNTIF can be used to count cells with dates, numbers, and text that match specific criteria. The COUNTIF function supports logical operators (>,<,<>,=) and wildcards (*,?) for partial matching. Its purpose is to count cells that match criteria. Its Syntax is =COUNTIF(range,criterias)
